EDITOR'S NOTE: Steve Lott has taught history and coached various sports at different schools since
1975. He retired from the school system a few years ago but still loves to coach pole vaulting. In addition
to volunteering as the pole vault coach for CHS, he is part of a team of Christian men who organized
Wings Elite Pole Vault Club that meets twice a week. Their goal is to teach proper vaulting techniques, and
support area high school pole vault coaches with year-round training. Their foundational axiom is Isaiah

run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Steve and Elizabeth have been married 43 years.
They have two sons (Ray and Greg), and two granddaughters. Ray's 11-year-old daughter is Emma. Greg's
daughter is Cailyn. Cailyn is also 11 years old and has been pole vaulting for a couple of years.
