You

                                                 LETTERS

                                   Dear Papa,

I am grateful for you every day, but there are a few things that you have taught me
that will resonate forever. Throughout my childhood you have always been there,
no matter what. You are the kindest and most loving man in my life. You’ve showed
me how a man should love and care for his wife, by being patient and affectionate.
I know that your childhood was not the best, but you always thought about your
family and how you did not want to be like your father… You have exceeded your
expectations in becoming the man you wanted to be. I also want to thank you for
never giving up on me. You constantly (remind me) how proud you are of me. Even
when I make decisions you don’t agree on, you find a way to be unbiased and give
me the best advice you can. You are a man who puts others before yourself and I
admire that of you… Thank you for teaching me basic maintenance on cars…Thank
you for always putting a smile on my face… I (will) strive to find a man like you
when I am older, (although) I know there is only one you.

                                   I Love You,
                                   Ryley Matthews

                                   Dear Grandma,

I just wanted to thank you for everything that you have done for me... Despite our…
disagreements, you have always continued to be loving - from the little things, like
taking me out lunch, and (buying) my favorite candy, to the big things, like staying
with me in the hospital… when Mom and Dad weren’t able to…. I will never forget
all the times you stayed (with me) when I was sick on a school day… You also used
those times to teach me valuable things. As I look back on the lessons you gave me,
I do my best to employ them daily. Be kind, be humble, and be fruitful. I… hope
that your wisdom will (continue to) rub off on me… Each time I am faced with an
obstacle, I… look back at the things you’ve taught me and ask myself how you’d
handle the situation. I… hope to be (come) as virtuous and as kind as you are, and I
know I’m on the right path because of all the wisdom you’ve given me. When I am
old, I hope to impart the same knowledge and wisdom to my own grandchildren...

                                   From your favorite grandson,
                                   Matthew Leal
