I accepted and taught there until 2015. That gave me
45 years in uniform. I have been blessed to have had
the opportunity to serve my country, regardless of the
assignment. I still stay in touch with a lot of former
cadets around the Amarillo area.
After teaching for 25 years, my hobby now is
woodworking. I enjoy spending time out in my “man
cave”, aka the small shop in the backyard. I am a
member of Volleys for Veterans, that conducts military
funerals throughout the Panhandle area. I also have
a part time job with a local funeral home as a funeral
assistant.
I met Nelda at the same café where I’d met the Marine
recruiter. She and I have been married since 1969. Our
son is still in Little Rock, where we have two wonderful
granddaughters.
I was once asked, “What is the best duty station you
ever had”. My answer was, “The one I just left.” For
me, that was a number of times. Semper Fidelis (Marine
motto for, “always faithful”).
